Sir James and Lady Galway will each host a Master Class at Tilles Center the morning of Sunday, March 16. Tickets to attend these classes are available at the Tilles Center Box Office or by phone at TillesCharge 516-299-3100 (1p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday) and 24/7 on the internet at www.TILLESCENTER.org Tickets to attend the Master Classes are $35 / $20 full time students (with school I.D. presented at Tilles Center Box Office).

Sir James Galway will host an advanced class in the Hillwood Recital Hall. All attendees are invited to bring their flutes to participate in his warm-ups at the start of the class. Four accomplished students age 17 or older will be selected to perform pieces for critique, accompanied by the class pianist. The presentation will include a live video enlargement of fingering detail, embouchure, musical notations and more.

To apply to be a performer in Sir James’ workshop, please download and complete the application form at Sir James Class Application. Applications to perform must be received by February 28, 2008.

Lady Jeanne Galway will simultaneously host a Master Class in the Atrium at Tilles Center. 40-50 young flutists, ages 8-16, will be selected to participate as players in her class before an audience of up to 100, and a very few will be selected to present short pieces to Lady Jeanne. A pianist will accompany the class and solos. At the end of the session, all participants will perform a short piece for Sir James’ class in the recital hall.

Applications to play in this master class must be received by Feb. 28, 2008. The application fee of $20 will guarantee a student ticket to attend the event; those selected as players will pay an additional $20 performance fee. All auditors must have tickets.
